  • Exam results out

A close shave, that one. Barely stayed on the four year course. Eep.
Mental note to self – ensure work next year.

Working in CSG again this year. Same-o. But hey, it pays for my bass guitar and living costs in London, along with hopefully some computer gear. Computer gear might have to take a back seat if more important things come along, but chances are small, as always.
Eeenyway. Phil is working down in Maidenhead/Bracknell for a year now, so he isn’t too far out from London. Been meeting up with him a few times over the past week, which has been good. One of the big disadvantages of working in London is that all schoolfriends are in Harrogate. 3/400 miles separation doesn’t help when you want to go out for a drink. Bugger.

Had a sudden urge to get drunk last night, but I finished the Tetleys before I moved flat, and it was too late to go down the pub. So that was a bit of a downer. I did washing instead. Not the most interesting evening in my lifetime.

Need to go suit shopping on Saturday – Duke of Edinburgh’s presentation on Tuesday (Buckingham Palace – oooOooo). This means I have to find a 42L suit in the sales, including a 32″ waist. Like that’s going to happen. Bah.

Not in a good mood at the moment. Someone try and cheer me up, please?

  • Exams over, me happy

Spent today attending a lecture on our forthcoming projects, where our lab spec was handed out. Unfortunately unusable at the moment – some serious work needs to be done on the tutors’ side.
We then all went up to Hyde Park for the afternoon, skating etc. Was extremely good fun. Looking forward to doing it again. Should be happening quite a lot over the next few weeks, as we have masses of free time.
Character on Elephant has gone up a level, which is nice.
Not too confident about how the exams went, but hopefully enough to keep me on the MEng stream. Anyways.

    Laters,

  • Waah! Exams!

Well, have now moved into Tim’s spare room in Battersea, and cycled in for the first time today.
I must say I never felt so unfit in my life (well, except for ATC camps), but no doubt I shall acclimatise soon.
The shower works (advantage over Southgate), and a far shorter journey time. So, all factors considered, a most beneficial move.

I have my first exam tomorrow – Computability, Algorithms & Complexity. Conveniently abbreviated to CAC. Everyone else is currently wading through an Architecture exam, but thankfully I don’t take that option, so I’m spared. Revising hard for the CAC exam, but I’m just taking a break now to update you all.
Anyway, aside from the obvious downer of exams, I’m OK.
Next update soon (when I remember). Cheers all.

  • Booooing!

All sorts of things happening in the heady world of Nickland recently.
Gonz0 and I are moving out of the house in Southgate at the end of the Easter holidays – me to Tim’s free room in Battersea, and Gonz0 to a uni friend’s place.
So that’s great – it’ll only take 20 mins for me to get into college every morning (bike ride), rather than an hour and a quarter, so I’ll be much happier. Will be a distinct advantage for exams, which start as soon as we get back from Easter (5 exams in the first week, apparently).
Moves are afoot for a trip to Amsterdam for a few days after the exams, to wind down. Looking forward to it – something to work towards.

    Ah, but the BLUE elephants…
    And the RED elephants…
Actually go quite well together. Hmmm.
    Booooiinng!
    Wibble.

Anyway peeps, I’m going to sleep.. night all.

  • Moooooo

Well, life continues to go on, I guess.

House life is rather quiet at the moment. We’re trying to rent out the 4th room (lovely situation, new carpet, decorated etc), which is proving to be an interesting exercise.
Gonz0 has met someone; we now hardly ever see him as he’s always out gallivanting. The latest amount of time (6 days) is still mounting. Strong0 & I just left a “life-check” message on his mobile for him to get back to us. I think I’ll email him as well.

Nasty coursework; we have to add debugging facilities to Minix, a teaching OS. Is proving to be awkward – the words “kernel panic” come up quite often 😉
In any case, we are working hard – we have 1/1/2 weeks left to finish it – and we hope to complete it before the deadline. Should prove strenuous.

Dave, Brad and I are going out to the union tomorrow evening for some chow & drink. Went to the Jazz Cafe with Boag a couple of weekends ago, where we saw Capri (Jon’s brother’s funk band) play. They ruled.

    Au revoir…
